Week Ending 12 May 2023 (Week 45) The AWEX EMI finished at 1284¢, 26¢ lower (-2.0%) in Australian currency and 5¢ lower (-0.6%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 45. 43,454 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 38,838 bales last sale. 24.8% of the offering was passed in after 5.7% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale. 32,694 bales were sold. AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $46.3 million ($1,416 per bale), taking the season total to $2.136 billion ($1,544 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 0.2% greater than in 2021/22.
