Week Ending 24 September 2021 (Week 12)
The AWEX EMI finished 16¢ higher (+1.2%) in Australian currency and 2¢ higher (+0.2%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 12. 34,031 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 32,825 bales last sale. 9.0% of the offering was passed in after 3.7% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale. 30,984 bales were sold. AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $52.3 million ($1,686 per bale), taking the season total to $447.4 million ($1,568 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 24.9% greater than in 2020/21. The New Zealand Merino Company also offered 1,718 bales in Melbourne on Wednesday, of which 16.6% were passed in.
