Fox & Lillie are commemorating 20 years in partnership with OTCL, an Open Top Combing Mill partly owned by Fox & Lillie, located in the Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone in Jiangsu, China.
Processing has been a big part of Fox & Lillie’s business since the early days, historically owning and operating scouring, carbonising and top making facilities. In 2006, Fox & Lillie invested and established OTCL with a group of Chinese investors, which has grown to become a global industry leader specialising in producing high quality open tops which it supplies to end users around the world. It also allows Fox & Lillie to achieve the highest standards of processing and logistical services to suit the needs of our many individual clients.
This month, Fox & Lillie Export General Manager, David Martin travelled to China to meet with clients and promote Australian wool, as well as celebrate our 20th anniversary and strong, long-term relationship with OTCL management and staff.
David said that the face-to-face factor is important in terms of maintaining strong business relationships, doing a greater volume of business and capturing new opportunities.
David also said, that while the global downturn is also affecting China, the Chinese are still significant consumers of wool at a retail level and that this will be of benefit to the Australian wool industry as their economy and demand picks up. OTCL also reported that the market segment in which they operate is supplying short wool tops to specialised knitwear fabric making clients who are still operating at full capacity.
