Aleisha Rintoule awarded the Fox & Lillie Rural Victorian Woolhandling Ambassador Award

SCAA Shearer Woolhandler Training Inc. was proud to announce the 2024/2025 Ambassador team at the Victorian High School Wether competition, with Aleisha Rintoule being awarded the Fox & Lillie Rural Woolhandling Ambassador position.

Fox & Lillie Rural have sponsored the Victorian Woolhandling Ambassador role with SCAA Shearer Woolhandler Training Inc for the third consecutive year, continuing their commitment to promoting training in shearing sheds and highlighting the diverse career opportunities in woolhandling and harvesting.

Each year the Woolhandling Ambassador is selected out of 100 woolhandling students in Victoria based on their work quality, team player attitude, willingness to learn, presentation and overall work ethic.

Aleisha Rintoule was very pleased to be awarded the Victorian Woolhandling Ambassador position. Raised on a mixed farming operation in Gymbowen before pursuing her education at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, Aleisha’s plans changed during her third year of study, having to return home during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was once Aleisha returned home, where she seized the opportunity to work as a woolhandler while finishing her final year of studies. It was during this period that Aleisha fell in love with the wool industry, and the environment and the people she found herself working with and meeting. Her increasing passion for wool and providing the best quality clip for woolgrowers over the past few years has led Aleisha to enrol in a Cert IV in Wool Classing through SCAA in Hamilton, to pursue a career as a wool classer in the future.

Glenn Haynes, SCAA Shearer Woolhandler Training Inc’s Executive Office said the ongoing sponsorship and support from Fox & Lillie Rural was extremely valuable to the organisation and the individuals involved.

“We see the importance of industry collaboration from the grower right through to the processor to promote professionalism and quality, and we feel the ambassador program plays a fantastic part.” said Glenn.

Ambassadors receive mentorship from trainers at SCAA Shearer Woolhandler Training Inc and are supported through sponsorship to compete in events such as Sport Shear competitions and the prestigious Golden Shears in Masterton, New Zealand.

These Ambassadors strive to promote professionalism within the wool harvesting industry, serving as role models for the next generation of workers entering the industry.
