Week Ending 3 February 2023 (Week 31) The AWEX EMI finished 18¢ higher (+1.3%) in Australian currency and 8¢ higher (+0.8%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 31. 38,516 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 44,306 bales last sale. 6.6% of the offering was passed in after 3.8% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale. 35,986 bales were sold. AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $55.8 million ($1,551 per bale), taking the season total to $1.355 billion ($1,569 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 1.7% greater than in 2021/22.
