Fox & Lillie is a major shareholder in Yumbah, after diversifying their business in the 1990’s.
Starting with one abalone farm on a green field site in Portland, Victoria, Yumbah building on its abalone farming experience to become Australia’s leading shellfish aquaculture company. The company’s business today comprises of operations in Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia, farming abalone, oysters and mussels for both the domestic and international consumer markets, as well as oyster spat for the South Australian oyster industry.
Yumbah was recently awarded the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) award for Responsible Producer of the Year title at the 2022’s Sustainable Seafood Awards. The company featured in an article published by Grace MacKenzie in Concrete Playground “How this Australian farm combines tech with the natural cycle of the ocean to combat overfishing“.
