Week Ending 17 December 2021 (Week 24) The AWEX EMI finished at 1358¢, 2¢ lower (-0.1%) in Australian currency and 4¢ lower (-0.4%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 24. It was the last sale before the three week mid-season break. 40,889 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 38,106 bales last sale. 13.6% of the offering was passed in after 3.0% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale. 35,315 bales were sold. AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $53.7 million ($1,521 per bale), taking the season total to $1.107 billion ($1,612 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 19.7% greater than in 2020/21. The difference between this season and last season is progressively decreasing due to the upward trend in offerings as sales progressed during last season.
