The AWEX EMI finished at 1150¢, 9¢ lower (-0.8%) in Australian currency and 1¢ higher (+0.1%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 22.
36,535 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 34,915 bales last sale. 12.1% of the offering was passed in after 7.6% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale. 32,126 bales were sold.
AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $44.8 million ($1,395 per bale), taking the season total to $637.4 million ($1,247 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 0.9% greater than in 2019/20.
Sydney included a designated Superfine sale in which one lot of 13.7 microns wool attracted a price of 3071¢/kg and another lot of 13.7 microns attracted a price of 2750¢/kg.
