The AWEX EMI finished 99¢ higher (+10.6%) in Australian currency and 54¢ higher (+7.9%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 13. The EMI has picked up 178¢ in the last three sales.
23,260 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 26,215 bales last sale. Sellers responded to the very positive lift in the market when only 2.7% of the offering was passed in, after 9.3% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale.
22,641 bales were sold.
AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $28.8 million ($1,272 per bale), taking the season total to $286.9 million ($1,139 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 2.9% greater than in 2019/20.
