The AWEX EMI finished at 929¢, 16¢ lower (-1.7%) in Australian currency and 17¢ lower (-2.5%) in US currency at sales in Sydney and Melbourne in Week 09. There was no sale in Fremantle because of the industry Association AGMs.
20,488 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 31,394 bales last sale. 11.2% of the offering was passed in after 7.6% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale, leaving 18,195 bales as sold.
AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $19.7 million ($1,083 per bale), taking the season total to $189.9 million ($1,185 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 6.1% greater than in 2018/19.
