The AWEX EMI finished at 945¢, 59¢ lower (-5.9%) in Australian currency and 30¢ lower (-4.2%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle in Week 08.
31,394 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 30,275 bales last sale. 24.9% of the offering was passed in after 6.6% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale, leaving 23,569 bales as sold.
AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $25.3 million ($1,073 per bale), taking the season total to $170.2 million ($1,207 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 0.9% greater than in 2018/19.
The New Zealand Merino Company also offered 1,782 bales in Melbourne on Wednesday, of which 40.0% were passed in.
