The AWEX EMI finished 13¢ higher (+1.1%) in Australian currency and 44¢ higher (+5.7%) in US currency at sales in Sydney and Melbourne in Week 49.
15,375 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 18,828 bales last sale. 6.8% of the offering was passed in after 12.6% of the potential offering was withdrawn prior to sale. 14,337 bales were sold.
AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $19.6 million ($1,367 per bale), taking the season total to $1.873 billion ($1,635 per bale). The number of bales sold at auction this season is now 19.3% less than in 2018/19.
