The AWEX EMI finished at 1833¢, 60¢ lower (-3.2%) in Australian currency and 49¢ lower (-3.7%) in US currency at sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle this week. The offering was again dominated by a large proportion of lesser type wools.
24,121 bales were on offer nationally, compared with 33,156 bales last sale. 28.2% of the offering was passed in, while another 8.4% was withdrawn prior to sale.
It was both the smallest sale and the highest Pass-In Rate of the season.
AWEX reports that the value of the wool sold was $32.7 million ($1,889 per bale), taking the season total to $2.975 billion ($2,163 per bale).
